PEOPLE WORKING TOGETHER
My name is Magda Silva, Account Executive for Be The Match Marrow Registry.  My territory includes most of the northern California coast down to Monterey Bay.  I am 48 years old, Born and raised in Northern CA and have lived in SF Bay area all my life.  Hobbies include reading, cruising on a ship to almost anywhere, traveling to Mexico and delving into different cultures.  I worked in corporate America until about 4 years ago when I changed careers to work in the non-profit world and I LOVE IT!

I met Jeana as she walked through the SF Bay area in Spring 2010.  I learned about Steps to Marrow about 2 months prior to her arrival to my geographic area.  I was intrigued by her story and was excited to meet her and learn more about her and her vision.  I followed her blog and website as she posted pictures and enjoyed her stories as she trekked to the SF Bay Area.
Jeana is such an inspiration.  I learned so much from her and consider her a mentor and a friend.  She introduced me to the “colleges against cancer” group at U C Berkeley and she organized a marrow drive on the UCB campus.  She also accompanied me at many of my scheduled marrow drives.  Jeana brought so much enthusiasm to the events at which she assisted.  It was clear that her participation at these events enhanced the bottom line results of the marrow drives immensely due to her great energy and enthusiasm.

I feel lucky to have met Jeana.  I feel she has added so much richness to my life through her wisdom and bold stand for Be The Match and the patients we serve.  I wish her all the best as she continues her journey to save lives, educate the public and enrich people’s lives.
My name is Janet Higgins, Community Outreach Specialist for BE THE MATCH Marrow Registry at City of Hope.
I had the pleasure of running into Jeana at Oxnard College where I was having a Bone Marrow Drive.  She stayed with me and recruited donors for the registry all day in the hot sun after walking miles and miles!  Because of Jeana, and after hearing her story, I think at least 20 more donors signed up!  Jeana is truly a remarkable and caring person and what she is doing is admirable!!

Aubrie Vargas was born in the small mining town of Miami, AZ.  She graduated High School and went on to play college volleyball and earning a Bachelors degree in Public Relations.  Aubrie was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2002 during her senior year of college.  Aubrie has been in remission for over 7 years now and has dedicated her time to helping others going through the same situation.

Aubrie started work at the National Marrow Donor Program as an Account Executive about 2 years ago covering 3 states: Arizona, New Mexico and Nevada.  Aubrie has worked with Jeana Moore and the Jada Bascom Foundation to add more donors to the Be The Match Registry during her journey across country and still working with contacts that Jeana has made contact with.  Our feature marrow drive was at Phoenix Children’s Hospital in Arizona, recruiting over 350 donors in one day!  We would like to thank Jeana for her dedication and hard work.  She is a true inspiration and a true definition of the word love.
